» Not News, But a friendly reminder.
Mar 13, 2010 - 2:05 PM - by Neocorteqz
For those of you who are in the US, it's time to change your clocks (with the exception of Hawaii, Arizona, and Indiana) Ahead 1 hour.

For you Brits and other Europeans not until 03/28 do you change yours.

So sorry people, time to lose that extra hour.

Ohh and a PSA for all

Regardless of when you switch to Daylight saving Time, remember to not only change your clocks but to check your smoke detectors at the same time. Working smoke detectors can double a family’s chance in a fire. Also might as well check your Carbon Monoxide detectors as well.

» Microsoft ending support for XP SP2 and "Non-SP" Vista
Mar 03, 2010 - 7:58 PM - by Sorce
Link Here.

Quote:
Support for Windows Vista without any service packs will end on April 13, 2010.
Support for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) will end on July 13, 2010.

If you're running one of these versions after support ends, you won't get security updates for Windows.
Time to start updating your computer (or family members'), if you haven't recently.

» VALVe has released an update for Portal.
Mar 02, 2010 - 8:52 AM - by Sorce
VALVe has 'quietly' updated Portal and added a new achievement.

They also included something like an ARG that various communities are scrambling to figure out.
MD5 hashes, BBS numbers, hidden images both jpeg and ASCII, morse code... and possibly a hint that "something" is coming.

This is really just a link to "the" thread on [H]ard|Forums, but it seems to be a good amalgamation of what's been figured out so far, with links to other communities working on it.

Personally, all I can say is OHSHI-

» Microsoft RickRolls Port Slamming BitTorrent Users
Feb 20, 2010 - 11:25 AM - by Neocorteqz
http://torrentfreak.com/microsoft-ri...-users-100219/

Quote:
According to the on-site WiFi operators at Microsoft’s Tech.Ed Australia 2009 conference, abnormal levels of network consumption by some users led them to take action against BitTorrent by ‘Rickrolling’ users who tried to access the most popular torrent sites. Interestingly, bandwidth usage wasn’t the problem.

Thanks to [H]ard|OCP for the story.

» Youtube goes full HD 1080p!
Nov 30, 2009 - 11:21 PM - by Jason Holton
Youtube now supports both the uploading and viewing of video content encoded in 1080p (1920x1080) resolution!

That's right, if you've got a 1080p camera and want to upload your videos in full 1080p glory you can do so without the fear of the video being downsampled to 720p as was done previously by Youtube.

Try out Youtube's new 1080p player with the Toy Story 3 teaser here:

Make sure you click the 'HD' button in the player, and then the full screen button to get 1080p.
