Raspberry Pi has hit version 4.0!
Posted by: Sorce - 06-28-2019, 07:10 AM - Forum: Front Page News - Replies (3)

The newest iteration of everyone's favorite 'project box' (sorry, Arduino) is out, and it seems to be pretty good across the board.

Here's ETA Prime's thoughts on it, since he's already got his hands on the 2GB version, with a 4GB version in the mail.

I'm perpetually on the fence about getting one, though this may be the push I "need" to finally do so. What I'd do with it, I'm not sure, but I usually vacillate between using it for emulation or setting up a Pi-Hole for my network.

A Demo? Of a GAME? FOR FREE!?
Posted by: Sorce - 01-12-2019, 10:24 PM - Forum: Front Page News - No Replies

Capcom decided that putting out a demo for their remake of Resident Evil 2 is a good idea.

Can't say I disagree, since RE2 is one of my favorite games ever, and demos seem to be in short supply nowadays. There is a catch though, you only have 30 minutes to complete it, and then the demo stops working. And yes, that's even if you uninstall/reinstall it.

So, want a link? Here's the one for Steam. For consoles, I'd imagine you just log into the store and it'll be there.

And here's the trailer for said demo (courtesy of the PS4 iteration).

Yup, between now and through November 18th Activision is offering a free copy of Destiny 2! All you need to do to claim your copy is login to your account and the game should show up in your 'gifts' box.

You're getting the base game (no DLC) with no strings attached - once you claim it it's yours forever.

Forget E3, we've got DOOM on the Switch!
Posted by: Sorce - 06-11-2018, 07:49 AM - Forum: Front Page News - Replies (1)

Modern Vintage Gamer is a long-time programmer (he helped with the development of XMBC back in the day, I think), and along with other people in the scene, has managed to crack open the Switch for some old fashioned homebrew gaming. In this particular episode, he shows how he managed to port Chocolate DOOM to the system.

  Borderlands 2... updated?
Posted by: Sorce - 04-29-2018, 10:24 PM - Forum: Front Page News - Replies (5)

Well, kinda. It seems that there's a community patch now available, and while not officially endorsed by Gearbox, they're not killing all discussion of it in their official forums. So, who wants some footage and people talking about it?

And here's the video on the patch notes for the latest version:

Pretty sweet, I may actually re-download BL2 and get a game going to try it out.

  Titan Quest: Ragnarok expansion released!
Posted by: TheGeekRedneck - 11-18-2017, 09:45 AM - Forum: Front Page News - No Replies

Holy crap! Talk about a surprise for the holidays!

THQNordic (who got the leftover properties after Iron Lore was dissolved and THQ went bankrupt) announced a renewed development on the original Titan Quest and it's expansion, Immortal Throne back in 2016. Those of us who love the game were treated to new graphical updates and tweaks, gameplay fixes, tweaked and fixed spells, and loads more including WORKING MULTIPLAYER years after the original Gamespy system went offline.

Well unbeknownst to me (and apparently lots of other fans), THQNordic have been working on a surprise! A BRAND NEW EXPANSION! Yesterday, Titan Quest: Ragnarok was released upon the land and it's going to be one hell of a great Christmas for a lot of us loyal fans of the game! A completely new expansion with a new landscape, new quests, new rewards, and more!

They're celebrating by discounting the expansion 25% off this weekend on Steam!

Happy N7 Day! It's been a decade of fun.
Posted by: Sorce - 11-08-2017, 05:54 AM - Forum: Front Page News - Replies (2)

Yeah, this is a bit late. Apologies.

Anyway, the first game in the franchise came out in 2007, and woah nelly did everything change as a result. Four mainstream games, a handful of mobile games, countless comics, novels, and even an animated movie resulted. Love it, hate it, Mass Effect had a tremendous effect on RPG gaming, and how it could show us characters and worlds we'd never encountered before. Not to mention how the player could interact with them and change things based on those interactions and decisions.

Sorce's E3 Round Up of The Best Stuff
Posted by: Sorce - 06-12-2017, 02:55 AM - Forum: Front Page News - Replies (4)

Seriously, I ain't posting all the trailers that got put out (and will be put out) for E3. Only the stuff I actually like, which coincidentally, is all the best stuff.

Forza 7

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Need For Speed: Payback

DragonBall FighterZ

God of War 4

Metro: Exodus

The Crew 2

Almost put in Anthem (Mass Effect, but Destiny) and Kingdom Hearts 3 (Here's a trailer, but the game won't be out until 2020!) but I didn't.
