Main rig is offline while I delid and relid the 8700k... I'm using the recently built 'backup rig' which is an i5-2500 on a Dell OEM motherboard w/ 16GB DDR3, a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO, a 2TB Seagate spinner, and a PNY Geforce GTX 770.

It's actually pretty snappy even at the stock 3.3ghz. Man, if I could find a cheap Z68 or Z77 board and OC this thing to 4.5ghz it would be even better....

I installed build 17133.1 of Windows 10, this is rumored to be the final release build of what's going to be called the "Spring Creator's Update" when it goes public in April. So far not a whole lot different... a few more transparency effects in certain windows, blah blah... a new "Task View" icon down in the taskbar that's kind of interesting. That seems about it...

Oh and the voice guided setup and installation routine got a few tweaks, but Cortana apparently still isn't smart enough to understand more than 'yes' or 'no'.

Wrestling with the idea of moving my main rig (aka The NoxBox) into the Thermaltake Core v1 Snow Edition case I recently picked up. It was going to get a Gigabyte H61M + delidded 3570k put in it, but now I'm seriously thinking about putting my main rig in it. The case is just so damn snappy looking!

I'll have to move down to a 120mm watercooler, but I have a new old stock Corsair H50 sitting here still in the box. The 8700k has made it abundantly clear that it's never going to be one of those "I got to 5ghz on 1.3v" chips, in fact it barely does 4.8ghz at 1.4v. So I don't think the extra cooling power of the Thermaltake Core 280 is making any difference anyway.

Ordered rolls of beige and gray filament so I can print stuff for the inside of the car. Was thinking of ordering a 3D printer for myself as well and 3dprintersbay.com has some good prices on the ones I want, but once I add the options (triple extruder, dual Z-axis, auto-leveling) it gets closer to freaking $700, which is way more than I'd want to spend right now.

I want an Original Prusa i3 MK3 with the Original Prusa i3 MK3 Multi Material upgrade kit but thats well over $1200 total

Or this one would work too.

https://www.3dprintersbay.com/reprap...s/Anet-Plus-A2, with $20 autoleveling upgrade kit.

From what I understand, Anet sucks for one reason or another. I've been looking at the HE3D Ei3 with the dual Z/steel/triple extruder/large bed/metal extruder/auto-level upgrades, or the HE3D K200 delta with the heated bed/dual extruder.

Actually, thinking I might just do the K200 ... need to sleep on it first. Do I need the triple extruder? No, but hot damn would it be awesome. If I did go for the delta, though, I'd need to get myself a 200mm diameter piece of borosilicate glass, because after using that on the Monoprice at the office, I really don't want to print on other stuff.

Hmm ... the UP Plus 2 looks pretty fancy.

Probably not gonna do it because #notinthebudget ... but given that the Monoprice unit paid for itself several times over already with the (proactive) capabilities it has given my team, and the fact that the objects I've printed have saved our asses with the data they've reported, printing the objects I want to print for personal use is no biggie as long as I supply the filament.

I say "Monoprice" unit ... yeah, I replaced the motherboard with an original Wanhao board, and a ton of other components have been upgraded, so pretty much the only part that's Monoprice is the frame I just need to hone in the acceleration/jerk values in the firmware a bit more.

So, the UP Plus 2 definitely looks like an upgraded version of mine (with less mods), but their software sucks ass. For $300 I could UPgrade my UP Plus to WiFi, but I don't think its worth it to me. I'd rather have an printer that uses better software and doesn't need an addon to set the hothead temp. I do need to printer a couple of dash button holders and this
