At the moment I'm building a Hyper-V failover cluster using two Dell PowerEdge C6100 nodes that are booting from a SAN.

I'm "waiting with baited breath" to drive home (in close to 90 degree weather w/ no AC) to have the tech for my ISP hopefully fix my Internet access at home.

Hmm ... my mom just Skyped me. Sounds like her computer may be hosed. It was making a whistling sound this morning, and now it won't even turn on. I've already assembled a wish list on Newegg ... if it's a motherboard issue she's looking at $550, but she'll upgrade from an AM2 Athlon to a Core i3-2125 on a B75-based Gigabyte board. She'd also need a new case because the Lian-Li she has is a PITA.

Turns out the funny noise my mom's PC was making was the CPU fan. Gave it a shot with an air compressor and it's perfectly fine now. I did order her a new video card, though...the Radeon Express 1150 (I think) just doesn't cut it lately. Skype video chat doesn't work properly, and she relies on that to talk to her siblings in Scotland, Sweden, Hungary, and New Zealand...MSI doesn't have any new drivers for it, so we snagged a Radeon something-or-other for $40 after shipping. Beats the pants off replacing the motherboard, CPU, RAM, case (the Lian-Li case she has is a steaming turd), PSU, and hard disk (hybrid drive ftw)...

Nice and hot outside ... 92 degrees, heat index 95 (43% humidity). Pretty windy too, but when it's this hot, the wind doesn't help much.

I'm going to Vegas on the 28th, so we're looking for a place to put the dogs. They're not fans of the vet and I don't want my parents to have to deal with Mario and the dogs, so we found an inexpensive place for them to stay ... Julie dropped both of them off early this afternoon to see how well-socialized they are (i.e. to see that they don't attack the other dogs). I wasn't worried about Daisy, but Lilo isn't as well-socialized. Turns out, both were fine. Very happy about that, but they were pretty nervous so we'll have to swing by a couple more times so they get used to the place. Pro-tip: driving a 2005 Civic coupe with two Shiba Inus isn't really that bad ... Lilo sat up front most of the way home, and she climbed in back with Daisy for the rest of the trip.

Managed to clean out over 8,000 emails in my gmail inbox... that's what happens when you don't sort or delete email for almost three years.

Shaytana sent me a scroll of resurrection in WoW last week, and I went ahead and re-upped my subscription so she should get a spectral mount for one of her toons. Meanwhile I get to level up any toon I want to 80 and will be handed appropriate green gear to go along with it. I also get a free realm change for any toon I wish. Pretty sweet...

Bad thing is I have forgotten almost everything about WoW since I hadn't played it in almost a year. I hopped on to check out my old toon and tried fighting a few mobs, it was pretty interesting lol.
