You've got Intel trying to downplay it as much as they can while still putting the word out, and you've got 'security experts' that are talking about it like it's the end of the world. Supposedly this particular set of vulnerabilities affects every Intel processor made in the last 10 years, possibly even further back. So I'm guessing at LEAST Sandy Bridge and newer and possibly even the previous Core 2 architecture. I usually roll my eyes at security crisis like these when they pop up, but this sure seems pretty bad to me. ![]() Cray cray... I'm going to dig out my old Athlon XP to be safe. ![]() ![]() |

Finally about to get around to unboxing the Samsung UN50MU6070 I've had sitting new in the box since shortly after Thanksgiving. It's going to replace the UN50JU6500 that's been serving as my PC display / TV since Thanksgiving of 2015. It's kind of a sidegrade really, although this panel is supposed to have way better contrast and notably less input lag all around. Plus it's got 'pseudo' HDR....

I should have a Q9650 in the mail today... I think I paid $30 for it...
Someone on the [H] also sold me a Q6600 for the princely sum of $10 shortly after I bought the one above. One of them will go into a NAS box I'm building for the home network, not sure about the other one. Some other sort of dedicated box on the network. Maybe a web server, maybe a HL2DM server, who knows... we have gigabit internet up and down, oh the possibilities! ![]() |
