Default Steve Jobs Dies @ 56.

Quote:
Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died, Apple said. Jobs was 56.
Jobs died "peacefully," surrounded by family members, his family said in a statement.
Neither Jobs' family nor Apple revealed where he died or from what cause, though in recent years Jobs had fought a form of pancreatic cancer and had a liver transplant.

After trying many Apple products (I own three Macs and four iPods, for example), I can't say I'm a fan of their stuff. However, you can't deny that Steve Jobs was a genius. May he rest in peace.

Pretty sad... his official cause of death was listed as a Respiratory Arrest (he stopped breathing) which was caused, unsurprisingly, by pancreatic cancer.

While the cause of death isn't surprising the long battle he fought is. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most fatal (and swift) forms of cancer. That he managed to fight it for eight years is amazing, and more amazing still was that he worked for most of that time. No matter your opinion on Apple and it's products today (I personally don't care for most iStuff) one can't argue that we lost a pioneer in an area we all hold dear. The world lost a visionary.

He was only a few years older than my Dad who passed back in 2008 from brain cancer. Goddamned fucking cancer. I hope we find an honest to god cure soon...

I think the proper thing to say, is I hope the drug companies allow the cure that probably already exists to be released to the general public.
