...and here I can't even remember the color of the underwear I put on this morning, even though I literally just walked 20 feet from the bathroom where I saw my underwear to the computer.

NO WE'RE NOT EVERYONE ELSE IS STAYING YOUNG

Anyway ... 3D printer update. While installing the all-metal hotend components I managed to snap off one of the two wires that went into the heater core. My hands are a bit shaky lately due to some ... dietary changes I've made ... so I asked one of my coworkers to solder it back on. He did, but the joint was really brittle and it broke off again the instant I put the fan shroud back on. So, I ordered a new heater core. It arrived yesterday and I installed it today ... works beautifully

So, then I went to adjust the Z endstop. I mentioned before that I'd have to raise it by 3mm, so I did. But then it didn't come anywhere near the plate. So I kept lowering it ... and even at the factory setting, it still doesn't come near the plate. I'm guessing I put the endstop on backwards or something. Also, somehow, the right side of the Z axis was lower than the left, so I had to level that out. Now that it's level I should have an easier time of it, but the extrusion head still sits too high, even if I extend all four corner bolts.

Monday, then, I'll be performing calibrations. Like, Garrus in Mass Effect 2 calibrations.

'dre, is this printer something at work or one you got for home?

I've been thinking of saving up $500 or so for one of the Monoprice kits... seems expensive for something to play around with, but everyone is doing it these days and I don't want to be left out lol.

And I hear 'ya on those dietary changes. Not sure what ones you're doing, but boy did the changes I made knock my body for a loop. Especially combined with the BP / diuretic my primary doctor put me on. In addition to shaky hands even now two months down the road (and over 80 pounds lost) if I'm in a sitting position and get up too fast I see sparkles and get woozy. If I'm on my knees working on something or other and get up too fast? Well I've come close to passing out a time or two.

Hopefully in a few more months (and 30 or 40 more pounds) I'll be able to quit the BP meds and the above symptoms won't be as bad.

That one's for work. We don't have one in any of our global offices, so I figured I'd start really basic and see how that goes before I start asking the CEO for thousands of dollars for an Ultimaker or something

Diet-wise I've been keeping a very close watch on intake of various specific things (calories, protein, fiber, potassium, vitamins A and C, calcium, iron, saturated fat, sodium). I've set a limit of 2500 calories and some very specific values for the other things. I overdid the intake today, but I burned a good 1600 calories on the yardwork Julie and I were doing, as measured by the Gear Fit 2 on my wrist

Speaking of yard work ... 240 pounds of dirt, 480 pounds of mulch, 12 impatients, 4 of some pink flower whose name I can't remember, 4 salvia (not the get-high one), 2 tall grasses, and a dogwood tree. We snagged all of that at Home Depot, stuffed it into the back of the van (with 5 people in it, no less), and planted it all. Just got back in after turning the soaker hose off. Figured our hydrangeas were getting a bit lonely out there, and we had nothing in the backyard to speak of. I am REKT.

I managed to fall down the stairs at home today, resprained my ankle and then proceeded to haul 3 minivan loads to the house (finalizing our move). Loaded and unloaded them mostly by myself too

I am seriously thinking about jumping back into FFXIV, if for nothing else, to finish out the base game. The two expansions are slightly tempting, but that just seems like a lot of "work" just to be current.

Just made my last day care/private kindergarten payment for the kids. We put Mario and Mia in there when they turned 2, and they've both done a great job -- Mario especially, as he's been there longer and has learned so much.

They're off next week, as am I. Then, the following week, they go to summer camp at a new place. There will be some overlap in terms of students, as a lot of the kids in the current place live in the area, but they'll both have the opportunity to make some new friends. I'm worried most about Mia, since it takes a while for her to actually stop being shy, but I think she'll be fine. Mario ... kid can make friends with a damn fire hydrant, he'll be good to go within 10 minutes of my dropping them off.

Looks like Julie's off next week too. I know we're going to be spending at least one day at my parents' house -- finally going to switch my dad over to that new PC I built him back in April. That's the i3-7300, MSI B250I Pro, 16GB DDR4, Thermaltake Core V1, Thermaltake Water 3.0 Performer C box. I've tied his Windows 10 license to his Microsoft account and plan on pulling the SSD and just swapping it into the new box. Yeah, it's dirty; no, it shouldn't cause any problems.

The problems may come when I swap the 64GB SSD and dual 500GB HGST drives from the old file server into my dad's current i3-2125 computer. That's running Nas4Free. I'm hoping it comes up ... if not, I'll just reimage the SSD and have it re-add the ZFS volume.
