Off the top of my head I know how to enable TTL connection to the Pi before booting it for the first time (just stick "enable_uart=1" in the config.txt file), but I don't remember ssh. That said, once you get your USB keyboard plugged in, you can enable ssh or VNC or both, and connect to it over your network I prefer ssh because all 30 or so of the Pis I'm working with are running Raspbian Lite, which doesn't have a GUI.

Also, for the love of all that is holy, remember to set the locale/keyboard to EN-US, because it's set to EN-GB by default.

Speaking of no GUI, I threw Proxmox on three old developer PCs at the office and set up a goddamn cluster. Yep, there are three machines under three different desks, all running the latest release of Proxmox VE, with a 4TB GlusterFS volume shared across all three, that enables me to build VMs and live migrate them between nodes with no-to-minimal downtime. And the best part? From bare metal to live migrating a VM from node 1 to node 3 was just under an hour. Just ... holy shit.

I actually ended up ordering a $10 keyboard on Amazon because I needed to buy a wireless Xbox 360 dongle for the thing anyway.

I fucking hate my new motherboard - so much that I posted this rant about it over at the [H]:

I hope my Z68 Extreme4 gen3 holds up at stock speeds, because it's my Proxmox server

Figures, after I post about the Proxmox server I manage to break it It was slightly intentional, since ZFS was pissing me off. Yes, it's good, but I really didn't like the excessive memory utilization inherent to ZFS, especially given that I'm not running ECC modules. So, I took snapshots of the VMs, copied them to my PC, reimaged it with Debian 9.4, and loaded Proxmox on top of that. Now everything's back up and running, but I'm using Linux RAID instead of ZFS. I'm about to move it back to the basement.

Took delivery of an Asus ROG Strix Z370 ITX board today. I didn't really want ITX, but the mATX version is next to impossible to get hold of....

What are you going to do with the rest of your case real estate?

I dunno...

I've got a brand new Snow Edition Thermaltake V1 I could put it in instead of the H61N-ITX and 3750K I was planning on putting in it, but I can't make up my mind.

If I stay in the V21 I can keep using the 280mm Thermaltake CLC/AIO cooler and since me likey the overclocking that's probably what I'll do.

At least until I can either find a REALLY awesome 120mm / 140mm CLC... like with a super thick rad that would be on par with the thinner 280mm Thermaltake -OR- put together my own custom loop with a high quality 120/140mm rad.

Also, blazing hot deal alert:

https://hardforum.com/threads/30-aft...ooler.1956905/

Newegg has the Cooler Master Masterbox 5 for $30 after two MIRs... AND you get a Hyper 212 LED for free. I actually got in on a similar deal last week where it was $41 and change for both items without rebates. I've got both items here at the house now and I can tell you that even if both rebates never came through, this deal is a steal at $50. I was expecting the case to be cheap and flimsy - NOPE. Very handsome, heavy, solid case that can take a full size ATX board. The Hyper 212 is one beefy ass heatsink even not being the EVO version... I was pleasantly surprised!
