You're always going to get the best speeds in the middle of the night, though.

Very True. But not bad for a 250 mbit line

I'm at 45 Mbps. Not gonna pay Comcast an extra $50 for the "privilege" of having no data cap on a 75 Mbps line, when I can get my 45 Mbps connection with no data cap for $0 with U-Verse TV and AT&T cell service

Agreed -- it's definitely an illusion. I'm spending an extra $100 with AT&T on top of what I used to, but ultimately it comes out to $94 less than AT&T and T-Mobile ... so yay?

I wanted to try Linux mint but epically failed... I think I'm a little rusty at the dual boot.

On the plus side, I was able to upgrade my win 7 ultimate to windows 10 pro just by downloading the windows installer. I guess they're unofficially still allowing free upgrades, which is good for me.

Cinnamon's nice but I'm okay with Unity, or at least the Unity-ish theme on Gnome now, so it's Ubuntu whenever I need a Linux desktop. The other stuff depends on whether it's for work or home ... at work we've pretty much standardized on CentOS 7, and at home I use Ubuntu for the VMs, but Debian Stretch for the hardware. Main rig's still Windows 10 because VIDYA GAEMS

There we go ... what a pain in the ass that was. Built a template for a new type of VM deployment in SCVMM 2016, and because of one lousy typo it was being all manner of screwy. Shift+F10 NEVAR FORGET

My son's laptop is on 18.10 as well, because Windows is expensive
